Bye-bye

For quite a while now, I have been trying to teach Brayden to wave bye. Sometimes he would do it, other times he would just look at me and laugh, or spit on me. But, this morning he started waving and so far hasn't stopped. I suppose he will sometime since it is only 7:37am. Brayden had his first accident the other day. He fell down on the giraffe and cut his gums a bit. He got a good scare, as did I.

Last week I decided it was time for Brayden to try toast. He had other ideas. He will play with the toast, then tear it apart and throw it on the floor. He has tasted it once, and by the looks of things, he didn't like it. Oh well I guess toast is an aquired taste. I also gave him a cheerio yesterday to see how he liked that. He picked it up, licked it, made a funny face, then threw it on the floor. If we had a dog he would be well fed with toast and stray cheerios!

Every evening since not long after Brayden was born we have tried to get a bedtime story in before we put Brayden down for the night. He loves books, the pictures especially, and he also loves to hear the story. He doesn't ususally sit still for me when I'm reading, but he will sit still for Mike most of the time. I got a few good pictures of this.

I think that is all of our news for now. Oh, almost forgot, this past Sunday, we as a family ( my mother, father, sisters, a few aunts and cousins) took part in the Super Cities Walk for MS. It was a great day and we had a lot of fun. The best part, 36,800 was raised for MS research!! WOO HOO!!!

fun fun fun

Today Brayden had his 6 month checkup and needles. He did great, cried for a couple seconds, but with a hug from me, was OK. He is growing bigger and bigger, 18lbs 10oz, 26.5 inches long, and his head was 48 inches. Yes I know, he has a big head, but the rest of him is starting to catch up to it. I had weighed Brayden a couple weeks ago at Baby Club and he was 19lbs, but since then he was sick, so I guess he lost a few ounzes.

Yesterday Brayden and I went to town with my parents for some shopping. All I planned on getting was diapers and wipes that were on sale at WalMart, but my mom and I got a bit carried away. Not only did Brayden get diapers and wipes, but a coat for the fall (which I only paid $7 for!), a new giraffe toy that plays music and the balls go around, two little houses that sing songs and talk, a new rubber book, a new Baby Einstein movie, and a couple of Nuby Nibblers. For those who don't know, a Nuby Nibbler looks like something you would make a homemade popsicle with, but you put fruit or cooked veggies in and let your baby chew away. Good for relief of teething and to get a snack.

There was a reason behind the rubber book too. Brayden has a few board books and recently showed some interest in them, so I put a couple in the toy pile and let him play with them. Well, he likes them to eat apparently. He ate the corner right off one of the books. Mike picked him up and he was chewing away (which he does sometimes, looks like a cow chewing cud), but then he coughed and spit out the corner of the book. They went back on the shelf.

So that is just about it for now. We are back to being up through the night again, but the odd night Brayden will sleep through. At least we had a week.

6 months

Yesterday, Brayden was 6 months old. Time is flying by way to fast! He is doing so many new things, like trying to pull himself up to standing, he laughes at everything, he squeals when he laughs sometimes, and he "roars", which is so cute and funny. He is still trying to get the crawling thing down, but still pushes himself backwards. He'll get it eventually.

We have had a pretty busy week here too. Saturday we went to a wedding reception and dance for our friends Jennifer and Ashley Watson who were married in the sunny Dominican Republic on April 26th. We had a great time. Then on Sunday, we had plans to go out to lunch with my parents and sisters at Pizza Delight and a supper of lobsters with Mike's parents for mothers day, but Sunday morning Brayden woke up with a fever and was throwing up. So I went to lunch with my parents and Mike stayed home with Brayden. When I got home, Mike was also not feeling well, but Brayden had a nice long nap and seemed to be back to his normal self again, so him and I went for lobsters. Well, I had lobsters, Brayden chewed on a stuffed cow. My first taste of lobsters this season, and they were GOOD!

For Mother's Day, Mike and Brayden got me a massage, manicure and pedicure package from Radiant Refelections at the Delta Hotel. I had a 30 minute massage before, but this one goes for 1.5 hours, I am really looking forward to it. They also got me some flowers and a couple of cute cards. Great first Mother's Day.

So that is pretty much it for now, there's a couple new pictures of Brayden. One of him and Mike which I think is hilarious, cause they are making the same face, and I just happened to get it on camera, too funny.

3 nights down...

Last night was the third night in a row that Brayden has slept right through. Mostly. He gets up around 4 or 5 to play, but then goes back to sleep until 6:30 or 7. I can do that for sure.

Yesterday we wanted to take advantage of the nice weather and spend some time outside, but since we are bombarded by little black flies all day long, we headed to a beach, where I took the opportunity to take some pictures of my cute little guy. He really enjoyed listening to the water and watching the waves come in.

hallelujah!!!

As any mother will tell you, there are a few questions that everyone always asks about your baby; how old is he/she, does he/she sit up on their own, etc. The one most asked is, does your baby sleep well. My answer in the first month or two of Brayden's life was yes, he is only up once, sometimes twice through the night. Which didn't bother me until recently when everyone around me is saying, oh I put my baby down at 8pm and he doesn't move until 8am. While I'm saying, oh aren't you lucky, Brayden gets up twice, sometimes three times through the night and I am tired and praying for the night that when I hear his little voice on the baby monitor that the sun is shining through. Well folks, today was that day!!! Brayden went down last night around 9 and he got up at 7 this morning. I woke up at 6, and panic set in that he had woken up and I didn't hear him. I keep the baby monitor turned up as loud as it can be and right beside my ear on the bedside table to settle this fear, but you just never know. But no, he had slept right through. No 3am feeding, no 4am playtime, right through.

Other than that, we haven't been doing too much lately. Swimming lessons on Tuesdays, baby club on Thursdays, going for walks during the day.

Next Tuesday Brayden will be 6 months old. I can't believe how fast time is flying. And I have come to realize that I will never stop saying that :)
So I think that is it for now, there are a few new pictures there, one of Brayden wearing his new sunhat, in the bath, and sleeping in his high chair.
